The "Egyptian Eye" typically refers to the Eye of Horus, also known as the Wedjat or Udjat eye. It is an ancient Egyptian symbol associated with protection, healing, and spiritual vision.
The Eye of Horus was a significant symbol in Egyptian mythology, representing the eye of the falcon-headed god Horus, who was the son of Osiris and Isis. According to mythology, Horus lost his eye during a battle with his uncle Set, but it was later restored by the god Thoth.
The Eye of Horus is depicted as an eye with distinctive markings, often resembling a human eye with the addition of a vertical line and a curved tail extending from the outer corner. The markings are believed to represent the different parts of the eye, with each element having a specific meaning.
In Egyptian culture, the Eye of Horus was seen as a symbol of protection against evil and harm. It was also associated with healing and restoration, as Horus' eye was restored after being damaged. Additionally, the Eye of Horus was believed to provide spiritual vision and insight, representing the divine eye that sees all.
Overall, the Egyptian Eye, or the Eye of Horus, holds great significance in ancient Egyptian culture, representing protection, healing, and spiritual insight. It continues to be recognized as a powerful symbol in various contexts, including modern jewelry, art, and popular culture.
